Oakland Campus
Coordinating a group/meeting on the Oakland campus can be a daunting task if you don’t know who to call for services. Here is a checklist of campus service providers who can help.
Meeting Rooms
The University has a myriad of meeting and class rooms available depending on the time of year that meeting space is needed. It is important that meeting planners familiarize themselves with University Facilities Policies 04-01 through 04-05. In order to schedule meeting space, contact the following departments:

Furniture, Tables, and Chairs
If you need furniture in the campus meeting space you are using, complete a Special Events Service Request and submit it to Facilities Management, from whom you can rent a wide variety of tables, chairs, risers, podiums, etc.
Audio/Visual
Contact the Center for Instructional Development and Distance Education (CIDDE) to rent audio-visual equipment or establish a teleconference link.
Transportation
The Transportation Office has access to professionally driven vehicles ranging from 15 to 50 seats. Contact the Transportation Office to arrange for a charter and to alert them if you plan on bringing large vehicles into Oakland.
Air Travel
Contact a University-approved travel agent to help coordinate the travel needs of your attendees.
Lodging/Housing
Residence Halls are not available. However, many Pittsburgh Hotels offer discounts room rates.
Catering
Contact Dining Services (412-648-2302) to coordinate catering for events held on University property.
Parking
The Parking Office can accommodate parking for your event depending on the day of the week and the time of day. Contact the Parking Office to coordinate access to campus parking facilities.
Police/Security
The University of Pittsburgh Police Department is responsible for safety and security on campus. Please alert the University Police when you intend to have a group of visitors on campus.
Street Closures
If your Oakland event requires the closure of city streets or removing parking meters from service, contact Community and Governmental Relations who will seek the necessary governmental approvals to accommodate your request.
Marketing
University Marketing Communications (412-624-0409) can help design and produce materials to promote your meetings and attract participants.
Mailing Services
If you are planning a mass mailing campaign as part of your meeting, please contact Mailing Services to coordinate distribution.
Disability Services
Please remember that the meeting you host must be handicapped accessible. In addition, it is your responsibility to have hearing assisted devices and/or interpreters available, if needed. When printing meeting invitations, be certain to include a request that handicapped individuals alert you to their specific needs.
