Vehicle Pickup
Bring your valid driver's license and current University ID card to show the rental agent. Pick up your University vehicle and keys in the Vehicle Rental Office, which is located inside the Department of Parking and Transportation Office at 3525 Forbes Avenue. Parking space for your own car is not available in the Vehicle Rental Office area. You may walk to the Vehicle Rental Office, be dropped off, or park your car in one of the nearby commercial garages at the garage's posted rate.
Please plan to arrive at the Vehicle Rental Office a few minutes before your scheduled vehicle pickup time. This will provide time for the rental agent to complete necessary paperwork and turn over the vehicle and keys to you.
If you have reserved a vehicle for an early morning departure or weekend use, you may pick up the key - but not the vehicle - before 4:00 p.m. the preceding work day.
VEHICLE RETURN
Return the vehicle to the Vehicle Rental Office as soon as possible after your travel is completed. Note that you must return the vehicle with a full tank of gas (which is paid for by the Vehicle Rental office when you use one of the credit cards provided), or your department or University group will be charged $5.00 for refueling.
Vehicles returned after operating hours must be parked in the Forbes Pavilion Garage. The garage entrance is located on Forbes Avenue, next to the Health Book Center. Use the key in your key case to open the garage door. Park the vehicle in any marked space and lock it . Walk to the exit door, which is at the other end of the garage. Deposit the keys, credit cards and any receipts or other paperwork in the key box by the exit door before you leave.
INSURANCE COVERAGE ACCIDENT REPORTS
All University vehicles are insured for fire, theft, liability and property damage. In the event of an accident, a department or student organization may be responsible for the $500 insurance deductible that is provided for under the University's policy.
If you are the operator of a University vehicle which is involved in an accident, you must complete - at the accident site - the accident form found in the vehicle's glove compartment. Instructions are printed on the form. Upon returning to the Vehicle Rental Office, you must also obtain and complete a University Accident Report. The University Accident Report must be completed at the Vehicle Rental Office, within 72 hours of your return.
